Upon graduating from Towson State University in 1989 with a degree in geography, Jason accepted his commission in the United States Marine Corps. As the honor graduate of his Combat Engineer Officer's Course, he became proficient in demolition and "hasty" construction methods. He was assigned as a Platoon Commander, deploying with his 40 man unit in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Kuwait and in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.

After his honorable discharge in 1994, Jason returned to Maryland and began working as a framing carpenter. After 4 short months he decided it was time to combine his lifelong passion for construction with the leadership skills he honed in the Marine Corps and the benefit of his college education to embark into the business world. Maryland Heritage Custom Builders was the result.

Jason's background in the construction industry began much earlier than his four year tour of duty in the Marines. Unlike most kids, his involvement with small building projects, such as tree houses and skateboard ramps grew into a fascination of construction and building methods. Always knowing what he eventually "wanted to do when he grew up", Jason began at an early age laying the groundwork for what he believes is his life career "calling". Before and during his college tenure, Jason worked for a foundation company, a land surveyor, a general contractor, and various building supply houses and lumber yards, while at the same time picking up odd carpentry jobs for friends and relatives. This experience has served him well, allowing him to not only develop a hands-on proficiency in many aspects of residential construction, but has given him an important understanding of every phase involved in a building project.

As company president, Jason continues to oversee the daily operations of this growing company and is personally involved in every project that Maryland Heritage puts its name on.
